The most important Point to keep in mind while designing your custom aquarium – and many overlook it!
If I need to put in to a nutshell the most overlooked point while designing a custom aquarium – I would choose Long term maintenance. This may include various points, for example; accessibility to gravel bed for gravel syphoning, access to walls to remove algae or just basic proper access.
These points may not reduce the beauty of the tank on installation day and may actually be the selling point on day one, however, it may cost you your tank a year down the line when it cannot be maintained properly.
Never forget to ask the question: CAN YOU DESIGN A WOW AQUARIUM WITHOUT INTERFERING WITH ITS LONG TERM NEEDS??
Will the design interfere with the maintenance i.e. can we access every part of the tank. For example – How often do we get the request for something rally eye catching like a roller costar may be really cool in your tank however; you may be cutting off access from many areas in your tank and therefore setting your tank up for disaster.
